The Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Toxicology, Department of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health announces open a permanent position of a

Specialised Research Scientist

starting from May 1st, 2004 or according to agreement.


The Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Toxicology performs research on the early effects and mechanisms of action of occupational carcinogens, individual chemical sensitivity, and occupational cancer and other work-related illnesses, develops methods for this research, and carries out genotoxicity testing. The laboratory has modern cytogenetic and molecular genetic facilities. The laboratory functions in close collaboration with the other laboratories and departments of the Institute and the international scientific community.

The formal requirement for the position is a doctoral degree suitable for the task. The Specialised Research Scientist will be responsible for research on the effects of carcinogenic agents in workers, experimental research related to this topic, cytogenetic and molecular genetic method development, genotoxicity testing, and expert tasks in genetic toxicology. Planning of research projects, application of funding, research group leadership and development, research reporting, and running of genotoxicity tests are among the primary tasks.

Salary is negotiable.
